DT Member Spotlight: Blackdragon...lynx

I had the pleasure of "meeting" Blackdragon through DT Member TerryO. She and TerryO have been friends for quite a bit. When the ATC Swap group was first established at the Village, TerryO posted some of Blackdragon's work. I'm sure it was less than 5 minutes later that I was e-mailing her asking her if she'd like to join us on the DT as well...

Blackdragon has crafted in one way or another all of her life. Her interests lie in the darker side of art -- dragons, fae, magic, demons, devils, vampires, goth fantasy. As she puts it, she is "...an odd-ball... loves to get messy... loves to try new things... and loves to recycle/upcycle." Her art is testament to her passion.

Serving also as a founding DT member, you will always find Blackdragon at the Village and on the DT. Although not a cardmaker, she does enjoy creating card keepsakes for family and friends as needed. Her creation preferences include Artist Trading Cards (ATCs), altered items, one-off pieces of jewelry, and anything slightly strange and out of the norm. She keeps her tools simple, calling on her Wizard and Tim Holtz dies and her stamp collection of several thousand stamps to work her magic.

In the scrapbooking arena, Blackdragon is a traditonal scrapbook artist. She loves the cut and paste of it all, creating layouts normally in the 8x8 size category. Per Blackdragon, she is technology-challenged and therefore stays firmly rooted in traditional scrapbooking.

In her own words, Blackdragon's "...favorite things to make are anything Poe/The Raven, Halloween/Macabre, as well as jewelry, wall hangings and boxes." Her art is passionate, detailed, and full of depth. Look for Blackdragon at the Village giving us tips and techniques in stamping, inking and all things color. All of her creative avenues will be showcased there. Her work can also be found on her blog -- Black Dragon Designs.

Much love,

DT Member Spotlight: TerryO

TerryO
TerryO joined the design team at the Village a couple of weeks after the site launched. She is a founding design team member and holds a permanent place on the Village design team. TerryO creates lots of cards using stamped and inked and/or hand colored digital stamps. She owns Tellen's Place Designs -- an online digital stamp company.

TerryO has been scrappin' since 1998. Her passions include cardmaking and mini albums, with cardmaking being her niche. A visit to the Village will showcase some of her work, but a visit to her blog will have your eyes dancing and your mind spinning trying to figure out which project to scraplift first.

TerryO first got into papercrafting when she made some cards for folks at work. Later that same year, her company had a craft fair in which she was encouraged to make and sell cards. She took the advice of her co-workers and sold at the craft fair. That prompted her to begin selling her cards on the seasonal craft circuit. She hasn't looked back... Although TerryO owns a Cricut and Big Shot, she finds herself doing more traditional work -- cutting with her hands rather than a machine or device. They are still part of her crafting world and get their use though!

On the scrapbooking scene, TerryO considers herself a traditional scrapbooker. In my mind, that is the only way to go! I have seen some absolutely lovely digital scrapbooks, but a scrapbook ain't a scrapbook unless you've manually cut and pasted some stuff to the page! Of course, that is just my personal opinion... Her favorite layout size is 6 x 6 mini albums. She gets to combine her passion for mini albums with her desire to scrapbook!

TerryO's own words about her papercraftin' passion: "I have this paper crafting passion because it is the one hobby that I totally enjoy 24/7 and it is a very fun way to give gifts to those I care about who appreciate handmade gifts; a win-win situation all the way around.  Through blogging and my challenge blog, I have met the most fantastic crafters who've become wonderful friends all over the world and this is exceptionally fruitful!"

Look for TerryO at the Village giving us lessons on cardmaking, inking and coloring, good uses of digital stamps, and other creative ventures. She can also be found at her blog -- Crafter's Delight -- and her digital stamp showcase -- Tellen's Place Designs.

Much love,
Dymonz

The Scrap Shack's Online Craft Magazine!

Welcome to the Village Scraps!!! This is the online craft magazine for the Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack (located in Baltimore) and it's associated online community, known as the Village, which is located here.

The Village Scraps is all about creativity. It will feature designs created by the Design Team members of the Village. They are Terry, Vernetta, Lyn, Kathy, and Myself. Terry's personal blog can be found here. Vernetta's personal blog can be found here. My creative space can be found here. To date, Lyn and Kathy have not started personal blogs; however, you can find Kathy and her work here. Once I can find where online Lyn displays her personal creations, I will be sure to update you!

This online magazine will feature anything that can be created with paper. We are paper crafters after all! There will be projects using the Cricut, Big Shot/Cuddlebug, Cinch and more. Projects posted here will have a picture and the supply list. From that, we hope that you scraplift and run with the project. We just kindly ask that you give credit where credit is due and link back to the post here on the Village Scraps which gave you the inspiration for your project. Scraplifting is fun when done properly! We encourage you to scraplift -- that's our whole reason for this online craft magazine!

In addition to providing a spot to come for creative inspiration without having to weed through someone's personal anecdotes on their personal blog (mine included LOL), this magazine is dedicated to my Design Team Members. This is for them. They work hard for me. Their compensation? Warm cyber hugs and the occasional RAK... So, this is for them.

This is to showcase their talent. To give them kudos for all the work they do for the Scrap Shack. The projects that are posted will have a brief list of supplies and the designer is given credit, with a link back to her personal blog so folks can see the other work that the designer does.

So to you, my fabulous Design Team, Thank You! Thank you for all that you do to keep the Village alive with energy and activity. Thank you for sacrificing your time and your talent to contribute to the building of my vision. Thank you, just for being you...

Now get to creating so that we can have stuff for this magazine! LOL!!! Love you ladies lots! And I'm looking forward to the creativity that this will bring...

Much love,
Dymonz...
